Root canal

Many people will panic when they hear the words root canal, but Dr Williams can perform root canal treatment in just one visit in the vast majority of cases. By doing so your tooth can be saved from extraction and any costs for subsequent dental treatment prevented.

Root canal therapy may be required if a tooth is infected or has been damaged. In the majority of cases root canal therapy can save the tooth. If a tooth is infected and not treated you may end up losing the tooth, but this is always a last resort and something Dr Williams and her team will do their utmost to prevent.

Why would I need root canal treatment?

The aim of root canal treatment is to remove infected pulp and bacteria from the tooth. The pulp runs like a thread through the tooth and contains nerve cells and blood vessels. Once the infected pulp has been removed, the tooth will be cleaned thoroughly and a crown will be bonded to the tooth to make it stronger and preserve its functionality.

Many people suffer from anxiety when they go to the dentist. We understand that the prospect of having root canal treatment may cause patients to be nervous or worried. Our staff is highly trained in dealing with nervous patients and will do everything we can to make your experience as stress-free and comfortable as possible.
